Haitian President Rene Preval installed a new government Tuesday -- four months after Haitian lawmakers fired the country's prime minister and his cabinet in the wake of deadly food riots in the impoverished Caribbean nation.
Now, it will be up to both chambers of parliament to decide whether the choices picked by Preval in consultation with newly ratified Prime Minister Michele Duvivier Pierre-Louis are good enough to help Haiti dig itself out of a crippling crisis.

The noon installation of Haiti's new government officially ended the caretaker role of former Prime Minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis and his cabinet. Meanwhile, Pierre-Louis was expected to officially present the newly formed government along with her general policies before the lower chamber of deputies on Wednesday. Despite some concerns over the cabinet's make-up by the leading political parties, Pierre-Louis is expected to win its approval during a second round of voting.
