Koch Industries has donated $500,000 each to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army for their relief efforts in Japan.
In addition, Koch subsidiary Georgia-Pacific is contributing some of its products to Convoy of Hope and Feed The Children.
Koch said it has 75 employees near Tokyo, as part of Koch Chemical Technology Group and Invista, but they were not affected by the disaster.
"Our hearts go out to the people of Japan as they deal with overwhelming and unfolding challenges," said Koch president Dave Robertson.
