CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for a man Tuesday afternoon who they say stabbed a woman and then took her two young daughters with him as he fled.
Police announced that the girls were found unharmed shortly after 4 p.m., and they are still searching for the man.
Police say the man, identified as Maurice Jermaine Harris, should be considered armed and dangerous.
He is driving a four-door 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis, either beige or champagne. The car has N.C. license tags YRY-7698.
The assault happened early Tuesday afternoon at a residence in the 300 block of Benjamin Street, off South Tryon Street a short distance south of Remount Road. The woman was seriously injured, according to reports from the scene.
Police say they are in the process of obtaining a warrant for attempted murder on Harris, who is described as a black male, about 5-10, with should-length braids. He is wearing blue jeans and a blue and red T-shirt.
According to police, Harris took the woman's daughters — 3-year-old Markayla Harris and 8-month-old Malaya Harris with him. Both girls are described as black females.
