LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Less than a year after getting out of prison, Bruce Price was gunned down in the middle of Elm Street in February 2000.
Price, 32, became Lexington's first homicide victim of that year. Police said they had no leads in the killing. But after nine years, investigators have finally gotten the break they were looking for: They made an arrest.
Police have charged Adrian D. Richardson, 31, of Lexington, with murder and tampering with physical evidence in Price's slaying.
Lexington police spokesman Lt. Douglas Pape would not say what led police to Richardson. Pape would say only that investigators never stopped working the case. The investigation was led by the division's Major Cold Case Unit.
At the time of Price's slaying, his family said he had been treading water, trying to make it in a neighborhood with more than its share of drugs and crime.
