A former coach accused of hitting a young autistic boy at the Richland library in August made his first appearance in court Wednesday.
Frank Teverbaugh, 76, is charged in Benton County District Court with misdemeanor assault for allegedly hitting 7-year-old Matthew Tolick.
Teverbaugh's attorney, John Jensen, asked Judge Joe Burrowes to continue the hearing because he's "attempting to obtain further evidence" to give to the prosecutor.
Mike Rio, Richland's city prosecutor, did not object to the continuance. Teverbaugh will be back in court Dec. 2.
