Authorities in Illinois arrested a woman Wednesday on charges that she murdered her husband in Sitka 22 years ago, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
Jane Limm, 45, is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Scott M. Coville, who disappeared while the couple was living in Sitka but whose body was never found.
Limm, also known as Jane Reth and Jane Coville, was taken into custody in Oswego, Ill., today after a grand jury in Sitka indicted her on the charges Friday. The troopers' cold-case unit investigated the case for nearly three years.
Authorities have not said how the murder occurred.
The couple married in Sitka in late 1987, according to the Law Department. Troopers say Limm killed Coville on April 12, 1988, which was also Scott Coville's 26th birthday. His family reported him missing to Sitka police after they hadn't heard from him.
The evidence tampering charge stems from what Limm allegedly did with Coville's body. The indictment offers little information about that claim, though.
Authorities from the Kendall County Sherriff's Office arrested Limm without incident, troopers said. Limm is being held with bail set at $250,000 while officials work to extradite her to Alaska.
