FORT WORTH, Texas -- An Arlington businessman was arrested Friday night and faces murder charges in connection with the 2005 disappearance of Kristen Charbonneau, who was 25 when she vanished from her job as an exotic dancer in Fort Worth. Charbonneau has long been presumed dead by police.
Daniel Glen Moore, 40, was arrested by Euless police near his home and was released Saturday from the Euless Jail after posting $35,000 bail. Moore, a car salesman who is married and the father of two young children, had for years been classified by investigators as a person of interest in Charbonneau's disappearance.
Euless police would not say what additional evidence led to Moore's arrest. Charbonneau's body has not been found, said Euless police Sgt. Gary Landers.
For years, Moore has been the target of a controversial campaign carried out by the missing woman's parents, Monica and David Charbonneau of Irving. The couple sent hundreds of fliers to random addresses near Moore's home in Arlington and created a Web site accusing him of killing Kristen Charbonneau.
"Our feelings are so mixed right now that I find it difficult to distinguish between happiness and sadness," the family said on its Web site. "We have endured many angry people who believed we targeted an innocent man and threatened to shut down this website. ... Our work continues as we prepare for the trial of Dan Moore."
