Kansas City police say they will be ready if hundreds of unruly youths show up again this weekend at the Country Club Plaza.
And they think that could happen.
"We've been getting information that they'll be back again," Capt. Donna Greenwell said.
Police are still developing their plans, but they expect to use more officers, the Mounted Patrol, video cameras, police tape and an arrest bus to prevent youths from congregating in the kind of mobs that harassed customers and caused fights Saturday night.
Police Chief Jim Corwin said his staff planned to meet with the Plaza Merchant’s Association, NAACP and others to find the best solution. Police also want to educate parents that the Plaza isn’t suitable for unattended children to roam freely at night.
As part of the extra enforcement, parents could be ticketed if they violate traffic laws while trying to drop off their kids and if their under-17 child stays out past midnight.
