The 22-year-old Florida man who moved to Texas and posed as a teenage orphan to relive his high school basketball glory days now faces six felony charges.
On Monday, a Texas grand jury issued two indictments against Guerdwich Montimere, a 2007 graduate of Fort Lauderdale's Dillard High School.
He is charged with two counts of second degree sexual assault of a child, three counts of tampering with governmental records and one count of fraudulent use of identifying information.
Fraudulent use of identifying information carries a possible sentence of six months to two years in a state jail.
Each of the other charges could send him to a Texas state prison for two to 20 years, Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland said.Montimere's accomplice in the fraud, Jabari Caldwell, also has been indicted. Police are looking for him.
Caldwell, a friend from Montimere's days at Dillard High School, helped him enroll at Odessa Nimitz Junior High in February 2009, claiming to be his half brother.
Over the next 14 months, Montimere posed as 15-year-old Jerry Joseph — as he was identified on a fake Haitian birth certificate. He moved on to Odessa Permian High School, gained popularity as a sophomore basketball phenom and was taken in as a foster child by the varsity basketball coach's family.
Then questions arose.
