Lil Wayne has a reason to celebrate. The Grammy winning rapper has been freed from jail after serving eight months for having a loaded gun on his tour bus in 2007.
He'll now head to Miami, where friends are planning a welcome home blowout hosted by Cash Money Records Sunday night.
Wayne is way relieved to be free at last, says rapper Bryan "Birdman" Williams, the co-CEO of Lil's label, Cash Money Records.
"He's just happy to be out," said Williams from New York. "Coming from a dungeon and back to living that life."
First order of business: seeing his family (the 28-year-old has four children).
"That's the most important thing," said Williams, who considers himself a father figure. "We're built on blood."
Second: eating a nice, big steak. "He likes steaks. We got a chef up here and we're preparing some good stuff."
Maybe politics are in the convict's future: President Obama told Rolling Stone he has some Lil Wayne music on his iPod. And former President Clinton wished him well during a phone interview with a Pittsburgh radio station.
"What I hope will happen is that he has a good life now," Clinton said.
