Medina F. Green and Tony L. Green will spend the next two years on probation and have to spend 150 hours each doing community service after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of injury to child.
The couple was originally charged with felony injury to child after their 4-year-old son ate a marijuana-laced Rice Krispie treat he found in a cupboard in their Sunrise Rim/Vista Avenue home Aug. 11.
The Green’s pleaded guilty to the lesser misdemeanor charge as part of a plea agreement with Ada County prosecutors last week. They were also given suspended 180 day jail sentences.
Boise police began their investigation Aug. 11 after being called to a local hospital after getting a report that a 4-year-old boy was lethargic, with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, according to reports.
Police say the boy ate the Rice Krispie treat when the 35-year-old Tony Green was not home and 30-year-old Medina Green was asleep, according to reports.
Tony Green told Fourth District Magistrate Judge Cathleen Irby last week that he got the pot-laced snack treat from a former co-worker “about three years ago” and put it in a cupboard with the intention to throw it away later — and forgot about it.
