LONG BEACH -- Harbor Master Michael White was listening to a talk-radio program on his way to work last week about the Christmas season and how people react when they make mistakes.
When he got to his office, he called Police Chief Wayne McDowell and admitted he had shot pigeons with darts from a blowgun.
“I called the police chief that morning and told him what I had done,” White said. “Then, he came with me to tell Mayor (Billy) Skellie.”
Less than a month ago, White told Skellie he hadn’t shot any pigeons and would look for anybody who was doing it. White, who was hired as harbor master about nine months ago, will resign effective Dec. 22. Skellie will submit his resignation to the Board of Aldermen at Tuesday’s meeting.
