Zahra Baker's father denies wrongdoing in her death

Cleve R. Wootson Jr. - The Charlotte Observer

February 21, 2011 07:25 AM

Zahra Baker's father denied in a televised interview Sunday night that he was involved with his daughter's death.

Adam Baker disputed his wife Elisa Baker's claim that he dismembered his daughter's body, saying "That's the biggest lie she's ever told," according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

He also said he feared his wife, whom he calls Lisa, was hurting Zahra after he noticed the girl had a black eye.

"I asked both Lisa and Zahra how that happened. Lisa started out saying Zahra slipped in the bathroom, hitting her head on the cabinet. Zahra backed that up. I think she was told to - she was scared."

The interview aired on the Australian version of "60 Minutes" on Sunday night. Zahra and Adam Baker lived in Australia before he married Elisa in 2009 and moved to Hickory.
