WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — An ailing Warner Robins toddler, whose story generated an outpouring of donations from as far as Afghanistan this week, is preparing to travel for treatment Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the second suspect in the lemonade stand heist that sparked the community’s interest in 2-year-old Logan Varnadoe sits in Houston County jail without bond.
Gage Turner, 21, of Warner Robins, was arrested at about 3 a.m. Tuesday after a tip led police to an apartment on North Fifth Street. He and Amber Umbarger, 21, also of Warner Robins, face three charges each of felony robbery by sudden snatching for allegedly stealing about $150 worth of donations from three young girls who were selling lemonade Saturday to raise money for Logan.
Meanwhile, a lot more than that $150 has flooded in from those who heard about Logan, who was born with one-third of a typical newborn’s brain mass.
His website showed a stream of donations Tuesday, a soldier in Afghanistan offered to replace the $150, and a Cincinnati-based charity has offered to fly Logan and his family there for his treatment Wednesday.
