Benjamin Crump — possibly the best-known civil rights attorney in the nation — is now representing the family of a Pasco man shot by police earlier this month.
Crump said he took on the case to lead Antonio Zambrano-Montes’ family in their fight for justice.
The Florida attorney, dressed in a dark suit and gold tie, walked through the Tri-Cities Airport on Monday afternoon and into the arms of Zambrano-Montes’ mother, Agapita Montes-Rivera.
Crump was thrust into the national spotlight in 2012 when he represented the family of Trayvon Martin, who was shot to death by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.
Crump also represented the family of Michael Brown, whose death led to riots in Ferguson, Mo., last summer. Most recently Crump has decided to represent the family of Tamir Rice, the black 12-year-old killed by a white Cleveland police officer in November.
