A judge Friday rejected a proposal by Initiative 1000 opponents to describe the measure as "physician-assisted suicide" in its ballot title.
I-1000 would make it legal in Washington, as it is in Oregon, to let a physician prescribe lethal medication to a terminally ill patient who had no more than six months' life expectancy.
Former Gov. Booth Gardner is leading the effort, contending that patients should have a right to determine when and how they die. Religious groups and advocates for the disabled are in opposition, calling their group the Coalition Against Assisted Suicide.
