Boeing Wichita general manager Derek McLuckey sent employees a memo saying the site is analyzing the impact of the loss of a contract to supply tankers to the U.S. Air Force.
With Boeing's 767 tanker proposal, Wichita was to have been a finishing center, creating or retaining 300 to 500 jobs at Boeing.
"The USAF finishing center was a significant part of our future plans, and as such, we are currently analyzing the impact of the announcement to our site," McLuckey said in the memo sent to employees about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
