Two top staffers at Kansas’ medical board resigned Wednesday amid criticism that they were slow to investigate complaints, including those against a doctor who lost 56 patients to overdoses.
Metro area residents complained, too, about lax punishments for physician misconduct, including cases in which a psychiatrist slept with a patient, and a doctor repeatedly made sexual comments and fondled female patients.
Kansas Board of Healing Arts Director Larry Buening and general counsel Mark Stafford will resign from the agency charged with overseeing and licensing doctors and other medical professionals.
