Tropical Storm Fay made landfall near Naples, on Florida's west coast, at about 5 a.m. today, bringing intense winds and heavy rain to Southwest Florida.
While the storm continued to pack 60 mph winds, it was no longer expected to become a hurricane.
Instead, Fay will likely lose steam as it rolls across Central Florida. As of 5 a.m., the storm was moving steadily toward the north-northeast at 9 mph, forecasters said.
