After five days of mediated talks, Boeing and the Machinists union have reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract. It's now up to Machinists union members to decide whether to accept the offer when they vote on the contract. Details of the vote are not yet known.
The strike enters its 53rd day today.
The tentative agreement provides for job security and limits the amount of work that outside vendors can provide in the workplace, union officials said. Job security was the union's top issue.
Other issues the two sides resolved were wage rates, health care benefits for current and future employees, pension improvements and work rule changes designed to improve productivity, union officials said.
Details of the agreement won't be released until the union has time to distribute the information to represented workers, officials said. That is expected sometime today.
