Kentucky utility companies announced Thursday that the number of Kentuckians without power has been on a steady decline.
As of late Wednesday, the number had dropped to 157,200, according to the state Public Service Commission.
Kentucky Utilities reported Thursday morning that about 1,550 customers — down from 41,000 a week ago — were without power in Fayette County. Statewide, KU had 35,000 customers without power. Most of them were west of Interstate 65.
Blue Grass Energy reported Thursday that crews had restored power to more than 1,450 more members since 4 p.m. Wednesday. As of 10 a.m. Thursday, about 660 customers were without power.
Blue Grass Energy officials said that as the large-scale outages have dwindled, crews were focusing mostly on individual outages. Since the height of outages on Jan. 28, crews have restored power to more than 30,300 members.
"We are on track to have restoration complete by this weekend," Cathryn Gibson, vice president of member services, said in a news release.
