At first it might seem like a youthful indiscretion — teens sending racy photos of themselves using their savvy text-messaging skills on cell phones as a way to flirt in an electronic age.
But it's really anything but harmless, said Clearfield County District Attorney Bill Shaw Jr. Especially since the pictures have the potential to end up on child pornography Web sites.
"Once these hit the Internet, you lose control," Shaw said. "And they can show up anywhere, including sites designed for child pornography."
Last week Shaw arrested a 15-year-old Clearfield County girl who sent nude pictures of herself to a 27-year-old man she met on the Internet. She was charged with creating, possessing and distributing child pornography. The man was charged as well.
The girl took the pictures with her cell phone, Shaw said, but police found them on the man’s computer.
