The Dallas-Fort Worth area was named to a list of Top 10 terrorism targets in the country this week by the federal government, a designation that will bring nearly $6 million more funding to the region.
Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington, Boston and Philadelphia were all added to the "Tier 1" category of high-risk urban areas this week, with the Metroplex grabbing the eighth-highest level of funding. All cities not in the Top 10 are lumped into a much larger "Tier 2” category.
Due to the ranking boost, the Metroplex will see a bigger increase in terrorism funding next year than any other urban area except New York City.
