RALEIGH -- The government's evidence against seven accused terrorists is so voluminous that the soonest each can expect a trial is fall of 2010.
The defendants, who are being kept at a jail in Virginia, came to federal court Thursday morning so that their attorneys and prosecutors could update the judge on how the case is progressing.
Defense attorneys described a large amount of information being turned over by the government. So far, attorneys have received more than 17,000 pages of documents and audio clippings of more than 500 conversations. This information doesn't include any of the confidential information the government has yet to share with the defendants' attorneys.
Prosecutors also predicted that a trial would last at least one month.
