STATESVILLE — Authorities charged a 41-year-old Statesville area woman with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after investigators spotted a jar of alcohol on her 12-year-old son's dresser, and the boy explained to them how the alcohol was made, Iredell County Sheriff Phil Redmond said this morning.
Sheriff's deputies were responding to a call of a domestic problem between the woman and her son Thursday when they saw the quart jar with alcohol, Redmond said.
Deputies called the Iredell County Social Services Department to intervene and released the boy to his father, who lives elsewhere, Redmond said.
The boy's mother is free pending a March court date.
