Some food-cart vendors at Saturday’s farmers market in Downtown Boise should have parked their burritos and root beer floats about 3,000 feet down the road, say owners of brick-and-mortar businesses.
The longtime director of the market says it’s a misunderstanding.
The Capital City Public Market opened its 2011 season last weekend, with booths lining West Idaho and North 8th streets between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. As usual, a range of locals sold stuff to eat, drink and wear.
But when Moon’s Kitchen Cafe owner Bob Dempsey arrived at his restaurant, there was a cart serving breakfast burritos a few steps away. A stand selling root beer floats was parked across the street. As a guy who sells the same things on Saturday mornings, Dempsey was annoyed.
“There’s already 20-some restaurants on site,” he said.
