BELLEFONTE — A defense attorney’s joke on the way into the courthouse Tuesday went viral.
On his way into the Centre County Courthouse Tuesday morning for the resumption of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial, defense attorney Joe Amendola was asked about the case.
"It's like a soap opera," he said.
He was asked which one. General Hospital, perhaps?
"All My Children," Amendola said.
The statement landed on numerous websites and blogspots and generated a flood of reader comments at CentreDaily.com.

Some news analysts said the “All My Children” moment was reminiscent of Amendola’s news conference in December when he said anyone who believed witness Mike McQueary’s story needed to call “1-800-REALITY.”
Unfortunately, that number took callers to a gay phone sex service.
Sandusky is accused of abusing 10 young boys over 15 years. He has maintained his innocence.
Eight alleged victims testified last week for the prosecution, describing a pattern of gifts from the former Penn State assistant football coach and Second Mile founder followed by sexual contact.
Amendola’s defense team has been calling its witnesses since Monday.
