Jeb Bush eyes a New Hampshire visit?

By Lesley Clark - McClatchy Washington Bureau

January 16, 2015 09:37 AM

A prominent Republican in the first-in-the-nation presidential primary state has told a New Hampshire newspaper that the former Florida governor has said he plans a trip to the state.

Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas told the New Hampshire Journal Thursday night that he got a phone call from the potential presidential contender and that they spoke for “about 30 minutes about ‘quite a few issues,’ including health care.”

Gatsas told the newspaper that based on the conversation, “running for President ‘seems to be a on the front burner’ for Bush. He said Bush told him he intends to come to the state, but offered no time frame for a visit.”

He also Tweeted a photo of himself on the phone, “talking with Gov. Jeb Bush this afternoon about a visit to New Hampshire - it's Primary season! #fitn #mht.”

Bush announced last month that he’s “decided to actively explore the possibility of running for president of the United States.”

Bush, the son of president George H.W. Bush and the brother of George W. Bush, said the decision came after talks with his family over the Thanksgiving holiday and “thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs.”
