Rand Paul, campaigning in New Hampshire Friday, is calling on Hillary Clinton to return money her foundation received from Saudi Arabia, saying there’s a “war on women” in the kingdom.
Paul said in an interview Friday with NH 1 in New Hampshire that she should return gifts given to her charitable foundation by other foreign countries as well, saying “it’s unseemly.”
The Republican senator from Kentucky, who has been essentially running for president for months but hasn’t made the formal announcement yet, singled out the U.S. ally of Saudi Arabia.
“They say there’s a war on women. Well, yeah -- there is in Saudi Arabia. You can be raped in Saudi Arabia, and they put you in jail. You can be raped in Saudi Arabia and they publicly lash you and whip you for being raped," Paul told the television station. "So Hillary Clinton needs to explain why she’s taking money from foreign countries that abuse the rights of women, and frankly I think today she should announce that she’s going to give the money back.”
Paul will also call on Clinton to return the money in a Friday night speech at the Carroll County, New Hampshire Republican Lincoln Day Dinner.
