The White House says that Obamacare critic Sen. Ted Cruz, who is reportedly signing up for Obamcare, will like what he finds.
Cruz, who once filibustered against the law for 21 hours on the Senate floor, has said his family will be getting new health insurance and “we'll presumably do it through my job with the Senate, and so we'll be on the federal exchange with millions of others on the federal exchange.”
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, who has declined to weigh in even as the likely 2016 presidential contenders take shots at the White House, avoided the irony of Cruz signing up for the law he’s vowed to repeal.
“What I'll say is simply that if those reports are true, then what he will find is the same thing that millions of Americans across the country have found, which is that there are good, quality, affordable health care plans that are available because of the Affordable Care Act,” Earnest said, adding that the federal law includes benefits like barring discrimination for preexisting conditions.
President Barack Obama earlier in the day touted the fifth year of the law, which remains as controversial as it was when Obama signed it into law. Cruz announced Monday (on the actual 5th anniversary of the signing of the law) that he is running for president, repeating his pledge to repeal “every word” of Obamacare.
