Reports of an active shooter at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington, D.C. Thursday morning were false, law enforcement said.
The president, cabinet members and foreign dignitaries fly in and out of Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where there were reports of an active shooter situation Thursday morning.

The base was scheduled to conduct an active shooter drill, but there were reports of a real shooter around 9 a.m. that sent the base into lockdown. It wasn’t immediately clear if any shots had been fired, and all personnel were instructed to shelter in place.
The incident delayed travel of Vice President Joe Biden, who along with the president, other cabinet members and visiting foreign dignitaries flies in and out of the Maryland base. It is home to Air Force One, which landed there Wednesday night as President Barack Obama returned from a visit to Canada.
