Clutching brief cases, donning dark suits and trying to put their best foot forward, more than 5,000 people lined up Thursday at the Signature Grand in Davie with one objective: to find a job.
From recent college graduates to out-of-work business executives, thousands waited in a line that snaked in and around the hotel for a career fair hosted by Diversity Jobs USA. Though doors for the event opened at 11 a.m., many started camping in front of the hotel as early as 8 a.m.
''I almost thought I was at the wrong place,'' said David Rodriguez. ``I thought I was at a Hannah Montana or Jonas Brothers concert because there were so many people waiting in line.''
Rodriguez, a recent Florida International University grad from Hollywood, is seeking a job in communications -- although at this point he admitted he would accept just about any job that came his way, having already applied at local burger joints and supermarkets.
