In their day, the members were rabble rousers in pearls.
They nourished children who were ill-fed and brought culture to the ill-informed. They marched for suffrage when women couldn’t vote and shuttled veterans who couldn’t walk.
They raised buildings. They raised awareness. When necessary, they raised Cain fighting for better prisons and schools.
Now, like white gloves and veiled hats, two of Kansas City's oldest and once influential women's clubs are fading away, their memberships too old and too small to continue.
The Woman's City Club and the Presidents and Past Presidents General Assembly, both formed more than 90 years ago, are to hold their last official meetings this coming week.
