Income growth in Washington state was better than the national average last spring, according to a new federal report.
Personal income in this state increased 1.2 percent in the second quarter compared to the previous year, ranking it 13th highest in the nation, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The national average was a 1 percent increase, with North Dakota (2 percent increase) posting the highest bump and Nevada (0.3 percent increase) posting the lowest.
Much of Washington's increase was attributed to increases in wages. Industries posting the most significant increases year over year include information and durable goods manufacturing. The information industry, which includes computer software development, accounted for 25 percent of nonfarm earnings growth.
