The ArcelorMittal steel mill in Georgetown will be making preparations to reopen over the next few weeks.
"The decision has been made to re-open Georgetown," said James Sanderson, the president of the local united steel workers union.
Yesterday at a meeting with company officials Sanderson said he was told that maintenance workers will be called back to the mill in the next few weeks to begin repairing equipment so full-scale production can begin in the next few months.
He said after the necessary maintenance is made to the plant, workers will begin to be called back to the plant.
He said more details about the re-opening of the plant will be available after a meeting tomorrow morning, but said he expects the plant to be at full-production by January.
