Joyce Lamar wasn’t being choosy when she visited employers Thursday at the Goodwill job fair.
“Right now, before Christmas season, I’m looking for anything,” she said.
Lamar, 31, of Macon, was among several hundred job-seekers who turned out at the Goodwill center on Eisenhower Parkway. Officials estimated about 350 had come midway through the three-hour session.
“I was quite impressed,” said Lamar, a single parent of an 8-year-old. “They had interviews on the spot, which was good. I had a lot of promising opportunities in there.”
Circle K Stores market manager Eric Whitaker interviewed applicants for store manager, store associate and customer service positions.
“We’re always looking for good people,” Whitaker said. “With 12 stores in this area, there are a ton of opportunities.”
Circle K was among more than a dozen employers and vendors at the fair. Some, such as Academy Sports & Outdoors, directed applicants to their websites to apply for listed openings. Others advised job-hunters to file their applications and résumés online for future jobs.
