SAN FRANCISCO -- Next year, tuition will rise at the University of California -- but not all students will feel the impact.
Tuition at the University of California will rise by 8 percent, or $822, and financial aid will expand for low-income students -- a decision made by UC regents on Thursday during their board meeting at UC San Francisco's Mission Bay campus.
Tuition will rise to $11,124 a year, a number that doesn't include fees such as room and board. This is the second round of student fee increases the 10-campus system has faced in a year. Last November, regents voted to increase tuition by 32 percent.
