MANATEE — Foreclosure activity in Manatee County skyrocketed by more than 103 percent from June to July, one sign that a judicial system clogged with real estate cases is finally draining.
But even with July’s burst, one of two judges handling most of the county’s foreclosure filings said 2008 cases are just now making it to his bench and at least 6,500 cases remain to be processed.
“We are just now barely getting our heads above water,” said 12th Circuit Court Judge Peter Dubensky. “We’re trying right now to get to those 2008 cases. We have some that go back as far as 2007.”
