Roundup of violence in Iraq - 5 February 2007

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondent Ali Fadaam in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. Itís posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchyís Washington Bureau.

1-Baghdad

The sours the M.O.I Operation room.

∑ 7:30am parked car bomb exploded in Al-Aamel neighborhood west of Baghdad in SabíAh Nisan street without any casualties.

∑ 7:30am (2) civilians wounded after an I.E.D exploded on the highway near Baghdad Al-Jadida area East of Baghdad.

∑ 8:45am (3) civilians wounded after an I.E.D exploded in Al-Mustansereya square near Palestine street northeast of Baghdad.

∑ 12:30pm (10) civilians killed and (15) others wounded after a car bomb exploded inside Al-Najafi workshop in sheikh Umar area in the center of Baghdad.

∑ 12:15pm (10) civilians killed and (65) others wounded after a parked track exploded in front of the petrol station in Al-Saydiyah district southwest of Baghdad.

∑ 12:30pm (6) civilians killed and (9) others wounded after a parked car bomb exploded in front a local market in camp Sarah area near the Eloyah Maternity Hospital east of Baghdad.

Dayala

∑ Three policeman killed and injured in Al-Saadiyyh town this afternoon:- an official security source in the Dayala police department said( a terrorist group attacked a temporary checkpoint in Al-Saadyah town near the city of Khanaqin this morning and killed (2) policemen one of them is an officer and wounded the other who have been transferred to the Hospital of Khanaqin.

Basra

∑ British soldier killed in Basra and a mortar attack on the British bases:- according to eye wetness in Basra today a British soldier killed today after an I.E.D exploded on a British patrol near the British and American embassies in the central the city of Basra. And after that the British forces closed the area. The Basra police spokesman said that two British bases in the presidential palaces exposed today to two separate mortar attack by (11) mortar shells. And the source add that an I.E.D exploded last night in front of Al-Manasir mosque 20Km south of Basra and cased big damages to the Mosque without any human casualties.
