Roundup of violence in Iraq - 13 March 2007

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondent Laith Hammoudi in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. Itís posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchyís Washington Bureau.

- Baghdad. the source :- the MOI operation room

a civilian was killed and 2 others injured when an IED exploded near the general company of the electric industries in Waziriya neighborhood east Baghdad at 8 am Baghdad Local Time (BLT).

The investigation judge of Karrada court was killed with 2 of his guards when gunmen attacked his car in Al Rubaiee street in Zayuna neighborhood east Baghdad at 9 am BLT. A 3rd guard was injured in the incident.

4 civilian were killed and 4 others wounded when a Katyosha rocket fell in Al Attar street in Karrada Dakhil neighborhood downBaghdad at 12,30 pm BLT.

A group of gunmen opened their guns fire targeting civilians who were coming out of Huthaifa mosque in Al Risala neighborhood south Baghdad at 3,30 pm BLT. The civilians were leaving the mosque after doing the noon prayers.

An Iraqi army soldier was injured when insurgent attacked his patrol with an RBG 7 missile in Arbaía Shawariía area in Yarmook neighborhood at 4 pm BLT.

2 policemen were injured in clashes with an insurgent group in Hay AL Turath neighborhood south Baghdad today afternoon.

17 anonymous bodies were found in Baghdad today. All the bodies were found in Karkh, the western part of Naghdad in the following neighborhoods ( 4 bodies in Hay Al Turath, 3 bodies in Hay Al Amil, 3 bodies in Dora, 3 bodies in Baiyaía. 3 bodies in Kadhimiya and 1 body in Yarmook neighborhood.)

2- Karkuk city.

a police source in Karkuk police operation room said that a police man was killed and 3 others were injured when gunmen opened their guns fire on a police patrol in Al Kurneesh street near the recreation park of Karkuk city. They source said that the insurgents were driving an Opel sedan.

3- Dyala province

a source in the combined operation center in Dyala province said that gunmen kidnapped a civilian from Khalis town 15 KMs north of Baquba city. The same source mentioned that other gunmen group kidnapped 2 other civilians city and injured a 3rd one from Baquba. The source confirmed that a combined Iraqi American force raided today evening the neighborhoods of Al Mustafa and Baquba Al Jadida in Baquba city and arrested 15 suspects.

A police patrol in Buhrez town east of Baquba found an anonymous body of a civilian.

A security source in Muqdadiya tow (45 Kms east of Baquba city) said that a security member working for the parliament member Mudhir Al Sadoon was killed and 4 other guards were injured in an assassination attempt targeted Al Sadoon near Al hasnawiya village in Muqdadiya town yesterday evening. Police expected that the Qaida organization stand behind the attempt as a part of its operations targeting the members of the Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP), the biggest Sunni Islamic party in Iraq.
