Roundup of Iraq Violence -- March 3, 2007

The Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. Itís posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchyís Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

-- Unknown insurgents shot dead early morning today Lt. Col. Fadhil al Rheem, a battalion commander in the wolf brigade from Iraqi national police. The incident happened in Ghazaliya neighborhood North West Baghdad at 10 am.

-- 4 policemen were injured when in an IED explosion targeted their patrol near Zayuna neighborhood east Baghdad at 11 am. A Police car was burnt in the incident.

-- A policeman was killed and 1 other was injured when an IED exploded targeting a police patrol in Saidiya neighborhood south west Baghdad at 11,00 am

-- 3 policemen were injured in an IED explosion targeted their patrol in Dora neighborhood south Baghdad at 1 pm.

-- An American Humvee vehicle was burnt without knowing the casualties among soldiers when it was targeted by an IED in Adhamiya neighborhood north east Baghdad at about 7 pm. American army surrounded the area after the incident.

-- 10 bodies were found in Baghdad today. 8 bodies were found in Karkh, the western part of Baghdad . one body was found in each of the following neighborhoods: Dora, Mamoun, Mansoor, Baiyaa, Hay Al Amil, Hay Al Jihad, Hurriya and Kadhimiya. 2 bodies were found in the neighborhoods of Ur and Shaab in Rosafa, the eastern part of Baghdad .

Kirkuk.

-- Nozad Nouri, the mayor of Takya area , apart of Chamchamal district one of Sulaimaniya province said today that the bodies of two Arabic origin civilians were found on the main road linking Kirkuk and Sulaimaniya provinces. Nouri said that the bodies were moved to the morgue for more investigation. He added that eyewitness said that they had seen two cars throwing the two bodies.
