This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. Itís posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchyís Washington Bureau.
Baghdad. The source: the MoI operation room
-- An Iraqi soldier was killed and another soldier was injured when an IED explosion targeted an Iraqi army patrol on Mohammed Al- Qasim highway at 9:15 am.
-- 11 bodies were found throughout Baghdad. Five of those were in Risafa (Baghdad east of the Tigris River) as follows: three in Adhamiyah and two in Sadr City. Six were found in Karkh (west of the Tigris): two in Jihad, two in Amil, one in Yarmouk, one in Dora.
Diyala
-- a source in Al Khalis brigade, the 5th Iraqi army division said that a force from Al Ghalibiya company rescued today early morning two kidnapped people when the force attacked some villages around Al Hashimiyat within Al Ghalibiya town north of Baqouba. The source confirmed that Omar Hashim Mansoor Al Bawi and Abbas Abdul Mahdi Madhloom Al Khafaji had been kidnapped by Ansar Al Sunna organization while they were going to Karkush camp to join the Iraq army. According to the kidnapped men, they saw blood and bloody clothes in addition to torturing instruments and they were videotaped for broadcast on Zawraa channel.
-- A source in the Shiite endowment said that a group of insurgents bulldozed the shrine of Abdallah and the Sada cemetery. The source said that some wanted insurgents were supervising the work.
Basra
-- The spokesman of the MNF-I in the south of Iraq Katy Brown said that 6 insurgents were wounded in clashes with British forces last night while the British forces were searching Hartha area 20 KMs north of Basra. The insurgents attacked the British forces with the RPG 7 rockets and mortar shells. But no casualties recorded within the British force.
Salah ad Din province
-- 8:30 p.m. on Thursday near al Tuz, unknown gunmen killed three and injured four members of the personal security team of the foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari, 160 kilometers north of Baghdad. Two of the gunmen were killed by Zebari's security and the rest fled.
