The daily Iraqi violence report is complied by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq , much of which goes unreported . It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

- Around 7 a.m. mortars hit Al-Fadhiliya neighborhood (east Baghdad) killing 11 people and injuring 10 others.

- Around 7:15 a.m. mortars hit Meshtal neighborhood (east Baghdad) injuring 6 people.

- Around 1:30 p.m. a car bomb targeted civilians at Mahmoudiya (south of Baghdad) killing one and injuring three other people.

- Around 1:30 p.m. clashes took place at Kadhemiyah (north Baghdad) between Iraqi army and Mahdi army. The clashes lasted for about two hours, police said.While Sadrists said that Hazim Al-Araji (a prominent Sadrist leader and the head of Kadhemiya office) had got a faiure anassassination attempt while he was going towards the office . Five of his guards injured ( one died in hospital ).

- Around 4.30 p.m., gunmen assassinated Sheikh and Imam of Khadhraa neighborhood (west Baghdad) in his house and injured two of his sons as they screamed for help seeing their father being killed in front of them.

- (18) Eighteen dead bodies were found in Baghdad in the following neighborhoods : (14 ) dead bodies were found in west Baghdad ( Karkh bank) ; 3 in Bayaa , 3 in Amil , 2 in Saidiya , 2 in Ma’moon , 2 in Kadhemiyah , 2 in Hurriyah While ( 4 ) dead bodies were found in east Baghdad ( Risafa bank) ; 1 in Sha’ab , 1 in Ur , 1 in Sadr city and 1 in Fadhil .

Sulaimaniyah

- a roadside bomb targeted a civilian car (a truck) on the route of Kirkuk–Rashad near (Ali Daham) village west Kirkuk yesterday. A police source said that the explosion injuring two people who were sent to hospital.

Kirkuk

- On Saturday 4th of August, gunmen riding a sedan car opened fire on an officer of police directorate (Ismael Salim) in domestic affairs department killing him at once, eye witnesses said. While police said that he died from serious injury in hospital.

Mosul

- Police found six dead bodies in (Faisaliya , Karama and Intisar) neighborhoods (east Mosul) including two children . All bodies have been tortured before being killed.
