Round-up of daily violence in Iraq, Friday 10 August

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClachy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

-6 unidentified bodies were found by Iraqi Police today.1 in al-Sadr City, north east Baghdad; 1 in New Baghdad, east Baghdad; 1 in Shoala, north Baghdad; 1 in Bayaa, south west Baghdad; 1 in Amil, south west Baghdad and 1 in Saidiya, south Baghdad.

Kirkuk

-1 civilian killed in a shooting in Qadisiya al-Thania neighborhood, behind the police station at 01:00 this morning. AbdulAmeer Izudeen, a laborer, was shot by gunmen driving a red Opel Omega station wagon without number plates.

-Two IEDs targeted a police patrol in Domeez neighborhood, near al-Nidaa husseiniya at 09:20 this morning, injuring two policemen and two civilians.

-7 killed, 48 injured and 4 have gone missing as a result of a car bomb in front of al-Shafa'i Mosque in Razkari market place, downtown Kirkuk at noon today. The force of the explosion destroyed 25 shops, 2 houses and burned 5 civilian cars. The vehicle used for the bombing was a navy blue Opel.

Mosul

-4 Peshmerga killed and 12 injured from the PDK when an IED exploded under their vehicle in the district of Zamar, north west Mosul, this afternoon. They were all from the city of Zakho, on duty in Zamar.

Basra

-5 killed and more than 20 injured in still ongoing armed confrontations between al-Maliki and al-Fraijat tribes in Qurna City, 100 km to the north of Basra. The confrontations came as a result of the assassination of Husham Qais Muhsin, son of the head of al-Maliki tribe in Basra this afternoon.
