The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

6 civilians were wounded when a mortar shell hit Maisaloon square in Al Ghadeer neighborhood east Baghdad around 10,00 am.

A suicide car bomb attacked an Iraqi army check point in Mahmoudiyah neighborhood south Baghdad around 1,30 pm killing 2 people (a soldier and a civilian) and injuring 6 others (2 soldiers and 4 civilians).

Police found 12 unidentified bodies in Baghdad today. 8 bodies were found in Karkh, the western side of Baghdad in the following neighborhood (2 bodies in Amil, 2 bodies in Bayaa, 2 bodies in Saidiyah, 1 body in Adil and 1 body in Mahmoudiyah). 4 bodies were found in Rusafa, the eastern side of Baghdad in the following neighborhood (1 body in Shaab, 1 body in Zafaraniyah, 1 body in Sleikh and 1 body in New Baghdad).

Salahuddin

3 Iraqi soldiers were wounded in a suicide truck bomb that targeted their check point in Balad town (80 Kms north of Baghdad) around 9,15 am.

A civilian was injured when a mortar shell hit the vegetable market in Balad town north of Baghdad around 7,00 am.
