The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

4 civilians were wounded in clashes between the Iraqi army and insurgents in Al Shorja area downtown Baghdad around 11,00 am.

Gunmen opened fire targeting civilians in Mansour neighborhood west Baghdad around 2,00 pm killing a civilian and injuring another.

A civilian was killed and 4 wounded when a mortar shell hit Abo Desheer neighborhood south Baghdad around 4,00 pm.

2 civilians were killed and 8 others wounded when an IED exploded targeting an American convoy in New Baghdad east Baghdad around 5,00 pm

Police found 4 unidentified bodies in Baghdad today. All the bodies were found in Karkh, the western side of Baghdad in the following neighborhoods (1 body in Mansour, 1 body in Hurriyah, 1 body in Bayaa and 1 body Amil.)

Babil

The spokesman of Babil province police Capt. Mothanna Ahmed said that 6 members of the awakening council of the north of Babil province were injured when they were attacked by gunmen in Jurf Al Sakar area north of Babil today morning.

Kirkuk

The commander of Hawija town police Major Fatah Al Jobori died two days after the IED explosion that targeted his convoy.

Nineveh

4 police men were killed and 16 civilians wounded in a parked car bomb in Hamdaniyah town, 35 kilometers east of Mosul city around 11,00 am.

An Iraqi journalist was killed in Mosul city today. Abdel Khaliq Nasir was killed when a mortar shell hit Bab Al Bedh neighborhood downtown Mosul city around 11,00 am.

Gunmen killed the Ghanim Qasim, the Imam of Al Huda mosque in Al Karama area east Mosul city. Qasim was killed near his house early morning today.
