Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Wednesday 17 october 2007

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

Four unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad today. Three bodies were found in Karkh, the western side of Baghdad in the following neighborhoods (1 body in Amil, 1 body in Abo Desheer and 1 body in Jamia’a). the fourth body was found in Sadr city in the eastern side of Baghdad

Kirkuk

Police found a beheaded body near Hawdh 7 village, part of Abbasi district west of Kirkuk yesterday. Police sources said that patrols from Abbasi police station and MNF forces went to the area and found out that the body was booby trapped and defused it.

A truck driver was injured when two IEDs exploded that targeted his truck on the street between Kirkuk- Mosul cities yesterday night

A gunman was injured in clashes with the a patrol from the 1st battalion, the 2nd Iraqi army brigade on the main street linking between Hawija town and Abbasi district yesterday afternoon. The military sources said that while the patrol was chasing insurgents in a sedan car, it was shot by the insurgent from Hawdh 13 adding that the patrol chased the gunman who is called Dhafir Abdallah Benyan and arrested him after being injured by the soldiers of the patrol.

Two men died while they were making an IED inside one of the houses in Al Ahnaf village, part of Abbasi district west of Kirkuk yesterday evening.

Qadisiyah

Seven policemen were killed when an IED exploded targeting their patrol in Efach district 35 Kms south of Diwaniyah city early morning today.

Diyala

A member of the Kurdish security forces known as Bashmarga was killed and ten others were wounded in a suicide truck bomb that targeted their check point in Jalawla town north of Baquba town early morning today.
