The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

2 civilians were injured in an IED explosion in Karrada neighborhood downtown Baghdad around 8,00 am.

Around 8,30 am, gunmen opened fire attacking the house of the ministry of electricity Kareem Waheed in Zayuna neighborhood east Baghdad wounding three of his guards.

Police found 6 bodies in Baghdad today in the following neighborhoods (2 bodies in Sadr city, 1 body in New Baghdad, 1 body in Atifiyah, 1 body in Doura and 1 body in Amil).

Diyala

A civilian was killed and 4 others wounded in an attack by Qaeda insurgents that targeted Al Zherat village in Mudadiyah town east Baquba today afternoon.

8 civilians (4 children, 3 men and a woman) were wounded when 4 mortar shells hit Al Salam area in Dalli Abbas town north of Baquba city today afternoon.Around 6,00 pm, a suicide bomber attacked Jalawla police station nearby a market in Jalawla town northeast of Baquba city. 6 people (3 Kurdish security member known as Asayish, 2 policemen and a civilian) were killed. 25 others (20 civilians and 5 policemen )were wounded.

Kirkuk

Gunmen killed Ataallah Eskander, the member in the local council of Hawija town west of Kirkuk and his driver Hamad Ali Hussein. The incident took place inside the town yesterday night. The gunmen burnt the bodies of the council member and his driver inside the car after killing them.

Patrols of the 5th brigade of the Iraqi army found on Sunday evening four bodies nearby Ali Soltan village, part of Reyadh town west of Kirkuk. A source in the Iraqi police said that three of the bodies are for soldier from the 3rd battalion of the 6th brigade of the Iraqi army and there were signs of shooting on the bodies.

Diwaniyah

A security source in Najaf province said that Mun’im Hadi an employee of Diwaniyah city intelligence directorate office was killed by unknown gunmen in front of his house south Najaf city last Saturday.
