The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A civilian was killed and two others were wounded when an IED exploded targeting a mini bus in New Baghdad, in east Baghdad, around 8 a.m.

A civilian was killed and two others were wounded when an IED exploded targeting a Caprice carrying fuel cans in al Ghadeer neighborhood in east Baghdad. The car exploded and was completely charred.

Police found two unidentified bodies in Baghdad today. One body was found in Doura neighborhood while the other body was found in Mashtal neighborhood.

Tikrit

Gunmen attacked members of the border guards while they were in their car near al Hamra area, 10 kilometers north of Tikrit around 9:30 a.m. killing one guard and inuring the other two.

Basra

Gunmen using machine guns opened fire, killin one police officer, first lieutenant Raid Khudair, in the al Mutaiha area south of Basra city on Wednesday morning, police said.

Babil

Police found an unidentified body in al Tihmaziyah village southwest of Hilla city on Wednesday morning, police of Hilla city said. Police said that the deceased body carried signs of torture and bullet wounds.

Nineveh

Gunmen using machineguns opened fire killed a student in Mosul University. The incident took place in Hamdaniyah town east of Mosul city on Tuesday night.

Tow civilians were killed when an IED exploded in al Andalos neighborhood in east Mosul city om Wednesday morning.

Kirkuk

The chief of Domiz police station Colonel Anwar Qadir survived from an assassination attempt with a car bomb that targeted his convoy in al Askari neighborhood downtown Kirkuk city.

Diyala

Two civilians were killed by the American army by mistake in two separated incidents in Baquba city on Wednesday morning, Iraqi police said. US military confirmed one incident about 8:30 a.m. and said that a US foot patrol shot a man in a bulky jacket walking toward them.. He disobeyed orders to stop and was shot, a spokesman said. Upon investigation, it was learned he had his arm in a sling.

Two civilians were injured in an IED explosion in Sadiyah town east of Baquba city on Wednesday afternoon.
