The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb exploded targeting an Iraqi Army patrol in Qahtan Square, Yarmouk neighbourhood, west Baghdad at 11 pm Wednesday, killing 1 serviceman, injuring 3.

A roadside bomb exploded between Qahtan Square and Yarmouk Hospital injuring 2 civilians at 7 am Thursday.

An IED planted in the Traffic Police umbrella stand in Mansour neighbourhood, central Baghdad, near al-Sa'a restaurant went off at 7.15 am Thursday injuring one policeman.

A roadside bomb exploded in the industrial street in Karrada, central Baghdad at 7.30 this morning, injuring 2 cleaners.

A parked car bomb exploded near Amina al-Sheikhly Pharmacy, Harthiyah neighbourhood, central Baghdad at 11.15 am Thursday killing 3 civilians, one of whom was a female, injuring 10 others.

A roadside bomb targeted a US military convoy in al-Bayaa, southwestern Baghdad at 5 pm Thursday. No comment was available from the US military at the time of publication.

2 unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad by Iraqi Police today. 1 in Baladiyat and 1 in Hurriyah.

Nineveh

A truck bomb driven by a suicide bomber targeted an Iraqi Army checkpoint near Orabi village, 30 km to the west of Mosul at 9 pm Wednesday. The explosion that took place while the Army servicemen were searching cars going through the checkpoint killed 7 civilians including 1 woman and 1 child and injured 12, including 3 servicemen.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in New Mosul, Mosul city, injuring 8, 4 of whom are policemen.

Kirkuk

Gunmen opened fire upon a civilian on the main route between Kirkuk and Baghdad, Wednesday evening killing him instantly.

Gunmen assassinated a police officer in the Iraqi Police, Department of National Investigation in downtown Kirkuk, late Wednesday evening.

Basra

3 civilians, including one woman were killed and 6 wounded in an air strike of an MNF plane upon al-Muhendiseen neighbourhood, west Basra. And although the raid was aimed at gunmen in the neighbourhood, according to Iraqi Police, the British forces confirmed that the air strike resulted in civilian casualties, without giving further details.
